--BRIGHTS--

The watchwords for this season may be understated, nudes, minimalist etc., but there's always room for some colour and fun too, especially in the heat of summer. I stick to plainer shades myself, but seeing other people in brighter colours is one of the many little things that puts me in a summery mood.

--PETRIFICUS TOTALUS--

What can I say, that's all I thought when I saw this photo. Harry Potter meets high fashion eh.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend-and enjoy the last few hours of freedom!

--BURBERRY RESORT 2011--

I really need to work out how to make the photos on this bigger! If anyone knows how it would be great if they could tell me! For the moment, if you click on you can see a bigger version of the picture.

Anyway, Burberry resort: I'm thinking it's kind of similar to stuff from recent seasons-neutral tones, safari, minimalist (although I suppose with their heritage being the trench coat, Burberry is always going to have a fair amount of neutrals around)-but I like it anyway. The styling's great too. And the ruched detail on the dresses and tops is interesting-like those spaghetti strap tops you used to wear when you were 8, that looked tiny when you weren't wearing them but then stretched out like a concertina when you put them on. Well, that's what I imagine the Burberry dresses are like! I'm sure in reality it's a very complex work of extreme craftsmanship, which justifies the price tag of 3 or 4 more digits than your average 8-year-old vest top.

(Know what else is extreme? My photoshopping skills. I mean, come on. Look at that picture!).

--BALLOONS--

A pretty random post, but I've been enjoying the sunny weather too much to spend much time on the computer! Just some pretty pictures of balloons, because that seems appropriately summery and in tune with my mood.

And the songs in my head right now-a pretty random mix, I admit, but maybe that just means there'll be something for everyone eh:
1. Afterlife-Avenged Sevenfold
2. In The Summertime-Mungo Jerry
3. Rude Boy Resort-Rihanna versus Papa Roach
4. Danke Schoen-Wayne Newton
5. The Island-Pendulum (Part I and Part II)
6. She's Electric-Oasis

--SAFARI--

After my post on utility wear, look what I found in my mum's wardrobe! She wears an annoying anount of khaki in the summer, and although all her three-quarter length cargos were a little too, er, spacious, these two tops fit perfectly. The only thing is whether I dare ask her to borrow them, because I know I'll be subject to ten minutes of ridicule on 'how the fashion-obsessed daughter is actually asking to borrow her frumpy old mother's clothing' (her words, not mine). Well, whatever, we'll see! Anyway I took photos of them, even though I have an irrational fear of cameras when they're pointing at me.

--HERE COMES THE SUN--

The colour at this time of year (when the sun comes out) is beautiful. Even in our garden, which has a pitiful lack of flowers and is just full of green everywhere.

--ALTERNATIVES--

I know some of these are very unseasonal (snow photos in June, anyone?) but I love the inspiration all these photos give me. At the moment, the weather's a bit unpredictable, and yet I'm reluctant to wear jeans simply because it's June-so these photos of women all wearing stylish alternatives to jeans are great. Cover-ups and style in one-what more could you want?

--GAP YAH--

Yes, I can spell the word 'year', but in fact I am making a meaningful pop culture reference to this video, which has become a cult hit among English teenagers. I think you might have to be British to understand the full hilarity but still watch it anyway because I guarantee it is hilarious, and who can do without a bit of laughter in their lives?

Anyway, a selection of 'gap yah chic' ensembles. Are there people who hike up and down Peruvian mountains in six-inch stilettos? Maybe. Do we even care, if it means it produces a good editorial? No, not really. Some great photos in here-I just wish I could look this good with ratty hair and a canvas rucksack draped on my shoulder.
