Monochromspiration

These photos are all from the accompanying book to an exhibition I went to at the Victoria and Albert museum a year or so ago, about Dior's famous New Look collection and how it influenced couture in post-war Europe. I love how none of the women in these photos are prepubescent nymphets, but real characters who bring a depth and class to the photos which is just not attainable from 16-year-old girls who probably don't even know which city they're in, let alone care. I forgot to name check all the photographers but there's definitely some Avedon in there somewhere, and probably Beaton as well. (Sorry about the bad quality, I had to take them with my camera as we don't have a scanner).
