--MEOWW--

I've spent most of this weekend in my pyjamas, enjoying the last opportunity for extreme laziness until-well, next summer probably. Now let's discuss leopard print. It's being called a trend, but frankly it's been called a trend for the past 3 years (which was when I first became interested in fashion, I guess) and probably before. Like skinny jeans and leather jackets, I think it's moved beyond the point of being a trend and will end up as a wardrobe staple.

Phew, that was an effort. Intellectual ramblings on a Sunday afternoon are not my forte. Now for the peanut butter cookies. Hope y'all had a good weekend.

--NEW--

Check out ma swagg. This month I started paying for all my clothes myself, so I made sure I bought my winter coats while my parents were still funding my high street habit! Coat shopping is one of my favourite types (especially this season, when coats are a major part of any shop's collection), especially as it gives you something to look forward to about the crappy weather coming.

Exhibit A-Topshop 'ultimate' pea coat. (Haha, that still cracks me up).

Exhibit B-River Island faux leather aviator jacket. (My first piece of online clothes shopping, apart from like Mini Boden when I was 5.) It almost killed me when I got to the Oxford Street Topshop and realised the jacket I saw back at the start of August was gone, but this one is still great and was a good £50 or so cheaper, so I suppose all's well that ends well!

--FIRST FOR FALL--

The first autumn photo post! (Note-usually I refuse to use the word 'fall', as it is utterly American and therefore wrong. Americans, I don't hate you, but English was from England originally and therefore our version is always correct. However, in this case it was useful for alliteration). One of the reasons I'm not so keen on autumn is because it heralds a move towards studio shoots rather than ones outside. Not that studio shoots can't be interesting, but their focus is always on the fashion by default-personally, photography is one of my favourite, if not the favourite, aspect of the fashion industry; it's how I first got interested in it, through Tim Walker and a certain copy of Vogue UK, which had 2 great shoots in it (here and here). So I always find summer shoots more interesting, as they take fashion out of the studio and into the real world, and therefore you're more likely to get great photographs as well as great clothes.

However, that's not to say that winter editorials lack creativity and amazingness in their own right! And as this winter sees my favourite season in fashion since ever (not that I've been following fashion for a massively long time...but even so!) I'm sure we've all got a lot to look forward to! (I feel a sideways smiley is almost a necessity here, but I refuse to succumb. Strength!). (I've recently realised that I use waay too many parentheses. Evidence of a scatterbrained mindset, I'm sure. Although I'm actually very organised...mostly!).

--PERFECT FOUR--

I'm well aware that this look mixes more than a few trends in a rather shameless and haphazard way. Nevertheless, this is exactly the kind of outfit I pass my autumns in-minimalist (not in the trend way; rather, as few clothes as possible to minimise clutter), comfy, season-suitable. Everyone goes wild for winter layering, but I've never really mastered it myself. You always end up throwing a coat over it anyway, and a fat lot of good may your carefully planned layers do you then. There's nothing wrong with a nice thick jumper.

--FAREWELL SUMMER--

I can't believe it. After months of looking forward to the summer, of dreaming of endless balmy evenings spent with friends in dusky parks, the days have begun to shorten and it's back to school for me as of tomorrow. Is there a more depressing feeling in the world than the end of freedom? (Actually, don't answer that).

So, in honour of this last day of summer (and thankfully it is actually a beautiful day, for once-I bet we now have a 3-week-long Indian summer which I'll have to spend stuck inside) here is my last summer photo post. After a point, living denial just becomes ridiculous, and I am as partial to a nice bit of shearling and layering as much as the next person; nevertheless, I am definitely a summer person, and every time I wear my denim cut-offs in persistent defiance over the next few weeks, it'll be tinged with sadness as I wonder if it's for the last time until next spring.

So here it is: summer 2010's last hurrah. Enjoy.
